Carl Kellett, an ex-pat Kiwi with more than 30-years marine industry experience, has been appointed Dealer Principal for Mustang Marine Queensland.

Kellett officially came on board last Tuesday, coincidentally linking up with his wife, Debbie, who has been responsible for the dealership's administration for the past three months.

Debbie Kellett is also well-known in the industry, having worked in sales for the New Zealand publication Sea Spray.

Chris Heaton, CEO of Mustang Marine and an old friend of Kellett, said the appointment heralded 'an exciting new era' for Mustang.

Carl and Chris had been discussing the possibility linking together for quite some time. Previously general manager of Horizon Boats-International and prior to that with Maritimo, Kellett spent 10-years with NZ company Genesis Marine.

He rates his major priorities with Mustang as being the restructuring of the dealership, situated at Runaway Bay, on the Queensland Gold Coast, and have the situation well in hand for the planned release of new Mustang models at the 2010 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

When he's not 'messing about in boats', Carl rates motor sport as a major interest and he has competed in various forms, including rallies and speedway.

For the past 22 months, Mustang Marine has been re-establishing its Australian and New Zealand dealer network, and the company has now taken on the role as the Mustang dealer in Queensland, NSW, Victoria and Auckland, New Zealand.

It has been a lengthy ands time consuming process. 'But it has been educational,' Chris Heaton added.

'We now feel much closer to our customers and this has opened up our line of communication and given us a clearer view on what our extensive customer base wants in a boat,' he explained.

Heaton believes the appointment of the experienced Carl Kellett will see the Mustang brand and customer service taken to a new level. 'Carl's appointment will ensure that we continue to build strong relationships with existing Mustang owners and potential owners,' he said.

Kellett will also be involved with the establishment of new facilities for the dealership within the Runaway Bay Marina and the appointment of a new sales team.

'Exciting times indeed,' Kellett said, 'particularly when one takes into account the fabulous new models Mustang Marine has planned.'
