One of the favourites for this year's Evolution Class World Championship title, 2B1 Furnibo, has secured a massive boost ahead of the season-opener in Croatia on April 16-18, after renewing its sponsorship agreement with Belgian construction company, Furnibo.
After finishing the 2009 campaign on a high, following victory at the Sicilian Grand Prix of the Sea, Belgian trio, Frank Hemelaer, Pierre Colpin and 2010 addition, Wim Capiau, will be gunning to prove its Fountain Worldwide powerboat can repay Furnibo for their ongoing support.
Chairman of Furnibo, Bernard Joye, who plans to attend the Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea, was extremely surprised by the amount of positive publicity the company received from its association with 2B1 Furnibo in 2009.
Joye is especially looking forward to watching the team go from strength-to-strength and challenging for more championship glory in 2010. He said: 'Furnibo is delighted to be associated with a really successful team in Powerboat P1, and it will be a pleasure to once again work with Frank and Pierre and help them become world champions for the first time.'
Fondly looking back fondly on an extremely successful debut season in its Fountain hull, Colpin paid tribute to former Evolution Class World Champion, Craig Wilson, who works for the prestigious manufacturers. He said: 'Occasionally, if we felt the boat was underperforming, I would Call Craig, sometimes in the middle of the night when he was still fast asleep, and he would give us perfect advice on changes, such as where to add weight, or where to trim.
'Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that our Fountain would've performed to such high levels. The quality, the speed, the stability and the all round performance was the most amazing thing I have ever been in.
'Fountain Worldwide helped us all season long and we are extremely confident of winning the world championship in 2010.'
