With the recent growth and success of the Lake Mulwala Power festival, a combined effort between the Yarrawonga Mulwala Tourism parties and the Australian Power Boat Association look set to feature on a World Stage with the UIM General Assembly meeting in Rome to hopefully annouce Yarrawonga, Australia as a Championship venue.
Since early 2008 a lot of planning between organising the yearly festival each November which hosts several Australian Championships sees boating's World Authority the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) this month meet to ratify the 2010 world boating championship calendar across the globe.
It is at this meeting in Rome at UIM General Assembly with over 50 nations attending it is expected the name Yarrawonga, Australia to be announced!
The UIM is the international governing body of power boating. It is recognized as such by the International Olympic Committee, and is also a member of the General Association of International Sports Federations, and the Association of the IOC Recognized International Sports Federations. The Grand Prix Hydroplane class is the Worlds fastest automotive inboard class and Australia has had 3 previous World
Champions. The Grand Prix Hydroplane is powered by Supercharged V8 Chevrolet engines which propel these machines to over 270kph (180mph) on water, making this the worlds most spectacular water show.
The event will be a week long festival with two weekends of furious racing action and plenty of on land entertainment as well as part of the annua lLake Mulwala Power festival which has an outdoor boating and leisure exhibition, with complete family entertainment. Dates for the 2010 Lake Mulwala Power festival will be the 20/21st November and 27th/28th November on the beautiful shores of Lake Mulwala.
In the meantime it is full steam ahead for this years Lake Mulwala Power festival now only 8 weeks away on the 27th/28th of November. Australia's fastest race boats along with the boating and outdoor leisure show will ensure this year's event will just keep getting better with bigger and better action!
