Good Crowds at Sanctuary Cove Day One

The 20th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show features 891 boats as it enters its second day today. There are 400 boats on water plus 491 boats and water craft through pavilion and hardstand displays.

The Show features 455 exhibitors, just one less than last year but there are an amazing 127 world and Australian marine product launches.

The 20th annual Show operates May 22 to Sunday May 25 from 9am to 5pm daily.

'This year on water displays alone stretch 5.232 km if placed stem to stern,' said Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show general manager Barry Jenkins.

'We have some positive responses from the first day in feedback from exhibitors with the sale of a Selene 59 and sales by Maritimo and Riviera,' said Jenkins.

On water displays stretch from A to H marina arms and there are four major pavilions plus hardstand displays.

Pefect weather on Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show Day One and early results show visitor numbers at 10,887 for the first day, but that may be adjusted upwards.

'We know key government groups such as Austrade and the Queensland Government have international buyers coming in from around the world from Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, China, Thailand and India,' said Mr Jenkins.

Today's highlight is the Smart State Marine Industry Breakfast (Friday May 23). Open to the public, this ticketed event will feature Gold Coast City Mayor Cr Ron Clarke MBE; John Strano, the Executive Director of Manufacturing Industries and Investment, Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry; and a leading international futurist whose identity will be revealed on the day.

There is no general public parking on site. Boat Show visitors can choose from a range of streamlined transport options with Park 'n' Ride at Parklands; taxi and limousine drop offs; Gold Coast Helitours helicopter transfers or ferries and water taxis. There is no private boat mooring at the Show, boats may anchor nearby in the Coomera River or adjoining waterways and Volunteer Marine Rescue offers a pick up service. The one day admission for adults is $A22, concession $19, child $8 (5 - 14 years). Children under 5 years free. (Prices include GST, credit card charges may apply).
