Abdul Salam Fairooz, Managing Director of Formula World Sports which is the organizer and promoter of the UIM F2 World and Continental Powerboat Championships 2009, expressed his gratitude to HH Sheikh Ahmad Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) and Honorary President of the UIM F2 World and Continental Powerboat Championships 2009, for supporting the highly successful staging of the recently concluded season.
In a press conference held at the NOC headquarters in Dubai, attended by HE Yousef Yacoub Al Serkal, Vice President of NOC and Chairman of the Executive Office, Mr. Fairooz told the media about the success of the four rounds held in Bahrain, Egypt and Fujairah.
Mr. Fairooz said: 'The tournament this season is a resounding success in all four rounds of the World Championship and the Continental Cup. I would like to thank God and the all-out support of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His support both domestically and internationally, especially in the World Championship, paved the way for the smooth and effective execution of the four rounds which have given the Arab world in general and the UAE in particular honor in international sporting forums and in the media."
Mr. Fairooz also thanked the Union International Motonautique (U.I.M) for the rights to promote the UIM F2 World and Continental Championships for three years.
Mr. Al Serkal added: 'I saw the competition in 2009 and there were significant developments at the technical level of the competitors, as well as at the level of organization and media interest. The competition saw the birth of new and young Arab drivers possessing high professional standards like Malek Al Malek of the UAE team and Yousef Al Rubayan of Kuwait and driver of Port Ghaleb team."
He further said that the NOC exerted all its efforts to support the organizer and promoter. "Under the directions of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the NOC will always extend its support and assistance to international sporting events in the UAE, particularly to those who are doing their best to raise the profile of the country in international sporting forums. We wish the best for all organizers to secure more achievements for the UAE,' Mr. Al Serkal proudly explained.
Mr. Fairooz said that preparations for the 2010 season which is tentatively scheduled to begin in April are already being undertaken to further achieve more success. 'We call on everyone to support the marine sports and promote the UAE in all competitions in the region and around the world," he added.
