All the bells and whistles were on display last week when Mustang Marine CEO Chris Heaton joined forces with Queensland dealer principals Carl and Debbie Kellett to unveil the company's all-new 2850 Sports Cruiser.

More than 90 guests, comprising Mustang management, current and prospective Mustang owners and media representatives were on hand for the launch at the dealership's Runaway Bay facility on the Gold Coast.

Based on the company's 2800 Sports Cruiser released last year, the new 2850, according to the manufacturer, takes the good points of the earlier model and adds a range of the latest features available.

It boasts enhanced living and entertaining space and its broader beam provides extra space in the cockpit and below decks; the galley has been moved from the cabin area below to the cockpit area.

This, of course, offers more room below while making for easier dining and entertaining options with friends while enjoying the great outdoors.

A great plus for a boat of this size is the fact that full standing headroom and an enclosed shower with separate toilet are among its features.

The helm could not be faulted, with unobstructed all-round vision and the latest technology, including a touch-screen electrical control panel, Finscan fingerprint ignition technology, SmartCraft instrumentation and the latest in entertainment systems.

An electrically-raised hatch offers easy access to the engine bay, housing the standard power, a 350 MerCruiser stern drive.

Other engine options will be available, including diesel.

'We can also install a twin engine arrangement, but we're not really offering that as an option just yet, 'Chris Heaton said.

Russell Weston, operations director for Mustang Marine, said functionality, the integration of technology and the application of cutting edge design were 'the cornerstones' to the company's approach when designing and building the 2850.

'In effect, we examined every aspect that made the 2800 such a popular model in our range and looked at how we could improve critical areas, including performance, enhanced space on board and the addition of up-to-the-minute technology,' he explained.

CEO Chris Heaton has described the 2850 Sports Cruiser as taking the company into 'an exciting new era'.

'To have customers showing strong interest in the new model is encouraging and we have great expectation for the 2850,' he said.

'We are particularly proud of the vessel and what we have achieved in its design and manufacture.'

Dealer principals Carl and Debbie Kellett are confident of the new model's future.

'With a base retail price in the order of $155,000 the boat is extremely competitive, in fact, I doubt there's better value for the dollar anywhere on the local market,' Carl declared.

'We have already sold one boat and there is a lengthy and promising list of prospective clients lined up for a test drive.'

The new boat will be shown to other Mustang dealers around Australia over the next few weeks, its next outing planned for Australia Day activities on Sydney's Botany Bay.

'There's no doubt in my mind that Mustang Marine has produced a winner,' Carl Kellett added.
