Evolution Class World Champion, Giancarlo Cangiano, is looking forward to putting his feet up over the festive season after recently undergoing some repairs to a knee injury suffered whilst skiing in 2008.
The initial accident occurred on the slopes last winter, but as a mark of Cangiano's commitment to Powerboat P1 and his SNAV OSG team, the Neopolitan legend only decided to tackle the issue this month.
Unlike SNAV OSG's smooth run in Sicily, Cangiano encountered some problems towards the end of the operation and was seriously worried for a short time. 'I had some worrying problems with anesthesia, with two weeks of very violent headaches and dizziness that kept me in bed for several days,' he said.
The doctors compared the pain to being immersed in a burning fire. Cangiano added, 'I had to really fight like a lion to withstand some of the pain.'
As a consequence of the initial experimentation, spinal anaesthesia transpired, giving Cangiano an extremely sore head. Fortunately for Cangiano, the doctors acted quickly to numb the pain.
Now, with all the drama behind the SNAV OSG pilot, Cangiano is looking forward to knuckling down ahead of defending his Evolution Class crown in 2010.
Ciangiano concluded: 'I want to make sure I am in the best possible shape for the 2010 championship and this scare has made me even more determined to master the powerboating world for yet another year.'
