'1st Asia Superyacht Conference'
Superyacht Singapore Association
|
The Superyacht Singapore Association (SSA) has today launched its initial conference programme for the 1st Asia Superyacht Conference to be held in Singapore on October 13-14 2009. The conference, sponsored by MTU, features over 20 international speakers from 12 countries including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Australia, the USA and the UK.
"The conference aims to set an agenda for the superyacht industry in Asia both in terms of cruising destinations and yacht building" commented SSA Executive Director, Jean-Jacques Lavigne. "The amount of superyacht traffic is fast increasing throughout Asia and the number of locally owned yachts is also growing quickly. Asia does not yet have the infrastructure strength of The Caribbean or Mediterranean and part of the objective is to identify what Asia needs to do to drive the industry forward. We have some of the most incredible cruising grounds in the world and more works need to be done to unlock the potential."
More speakers are being added to the programme every day and SSA member and Conference Director Simon Turner commented, "we already have an exceptional line up of speakers from Asia and beyond for the 1st event of this type ever to be held in the region. The word is spreading quickly and we are getting more enquiries every day. We have a few more slots to fill on key topics and we are particularly interested to hear from yacht builders and owners who might be able to add value to the programme.
"?The conference is not for profit and at S$599 (for registrations before August 31st), it represents a fantastic opportunity to gain a fast insight into the business in Asia and meet new contacts who can open the door to this growing market. International marine associations are invited to contact the SSA to gain a special rate for their members.?
