Woody Point in WA - more dead birds!

A call to the local Cockburn council revealed more birds have died since the initial 140 dropped dead.

The DEC are still running tests to find out what's knocking these birds off.

The last bird found dead was late last week however the beach will remain closed until the results of tests being undertaken by the DEC of water samples and from the birds are completed and we are certain there is no threat to human or environmental health.

Whilst there have been suspicions about the outlet pipe, the DEC people have suggested that the birds may simply have gathered there as a source of freshwater because they weren't feeling so good!

Cockburn city council expected the beach could be closed for a few weeks, and the only affected area is the one that currently has signs displayed. Coogee

Beach or the southern area of Woodman Point have had no bird deaths and are deemed safe for use.
