Wind Will & Gravity Games Pro Kiteboarding Tour

Ewan Jaspan kitesurfing at Augusta,WAThe Wind Will and Gravity Pro Tour attracted some top class riders from around the globe including Australian riders, Ewan Jaspan, Simon Wichtermann, Chrissie Gaudieri, Abel Tomkins and Michael Bell.

The event took place in the south west town of Augusta in Western Australia's famous Margerat River wine region.  Saturday the 8th of January and the wind wasn't kind to Us.

After checking our sponsors webpage (Seabreeze.com.au, Thanks Laurie) things looked pretty good but mother nature obviously doesn't check because it was very light, so light that the only one able to get up and riding was Ewan Jaspan on his 14m.

We stood around waiting and watching as Ewan cut up the Blackwood river. Around 4:30 the wind picked up enough for everyone to be powered up on their 12's. A little disorganized as everyone hit the water to be filmed and photographed, it was quite impressive to watch some of the best in the business strutt their stuff. It was my first look at Mario Rodwald and Reno Romeu, they have both  impressed on the pkra tour last season and I must say 2 future world champions maybe, very impressive.

Day 2 and the wind was good right from the start, it was most of the rider's first time on the Blackwood and judging by the amount of time spent on the water, they were enjoying themselves!, which is what we wanted for the video and photographs, the best in the business having fun with no presure on them to score, just to come up with great tricks for great shots and footage.

The European riders were particularly impressed with Ewan Jaspan, just 17 in January on the Monday of the tour ,he has added some new tricks to his arsnel and just might take some beating in the Nationals if what  I seen  in Augusta is any guide.

Day 3 the last  day on the Blackwood before moving on to Margerat River for hopefully some waves! I did a bit of shooting in another part of the river for some different scenary and background. The day ended with a pizza night at Mark and Helen Hamptons ( Locals) place and a celebratry drink for Ewan's 17th which turned into a big night so Tuesday looked like being a lazy day with most people not rising out of bed till lunch time.

Wednesday and the wind and wave gods have not been kind with a small swell and not much breeze to talk about. Michael Bell hit what ever surf there was with Abel Tomkins, Jerome rigged up his 12 and went for a wave jump or 2 before laying the kite back down on the white sandy beach.

The forecast was not good for the last 2 days and a number of rider's headed home with just a few staying and hoping things would change, sadly they didnt so it was decided the tour would end prematurally. Ask the riders how it was and I must say I was suprised with thier answer's, all postive and had a blast was the most used phrase, so I guess all in all a huge success.

Thanks once again to Laurie and Seabreeze for their financial support and to all the rider's that fronted up to make this a Fun event to be a part of.
