Whats it like to be world champion? An Interview with Andy

Andy Yates riding on the Sunny Coast.
When a 20yr old Kitesurfer from the Sunshine Coast becomes world kitesurfing champion - it's kinda big news... Back around 2004, Andy Yates was known as the little grom who always wore a floppy hat and plastered his face with white zinc so he wouldn't get sunburnt.

Seven years on, who's laughing now! Andy Yates is the worlds no. 1 kitesurfer - tearing up on the world stage, and last year won the PKRA world kiteboarding tour before the event was even finished. Riding for Slingshot, he's also known as one of the most approachable kitersurfers to go and have a chat with. So he's not only the best kitesurfer in the world, he's also a pretty nice guy.

Check out this interview with Andy Yates to get an insight into what happened on last years world tour, before he's whisked away to compete on this years PKRA world kitesurfing tour, which starts this week in Thailand! Hopefully Andy's got what it takes to hold off the
no. 2 and 3 ranked kitesurfers Alex Pastor and Youri Zoon, who will be riding harder than ever to push Andy from the number one position.

The Seabreeze community wishes Andy good luck in the upcoming events in Thailand and around the world all year, ride hard and we'll
see you back for the final on the Gold Coast this coming Summer!
