The biggest wakestyle event since the Triple S has just wrapped up in the Hood River, Oregon with almost perfect conditions over the week. 

In the Hood river, it's either wakestyle or no style according to the locals. The extremely strong influence of the worlds best kiteboarders, in addition to the strong winds, permanent obstacles and testing grounds for some of the worlds biggest kiteboarding companies make the area a talent breeding ground through the US summer. Events like the Ro-Sham-Throwdown produce some amazing footage, and usually offers a sneak peak at some of the latest gear for the next season. 

This year was no different and not only did we see the sneak peaks of all the new gear, but the riding was top notch and truly progressive. Sam light ended up taking the title, sharing top spot with Colleen Carroll in the womens division. It all got judged in a pretty unique style depending on what discipline the riders were doing at the time. Rails counted for 40%, Kickers 20%, Flatwater 20% and Overall Impression contributed 20% of the total scores. Riders were impressed with the format, and everyone said it was a good way of making sure the rail riders didn't get all the action.
