Season 2011/12 Calendar of Events

The WAKSA Committee is very pleased to announce the following events for the seaon 2011/12:

16th October (Sunday) -
Season Opener Downwinder - Leighton to Floreat.

23rd October - (Sunday) -
Course Racing - Melville.

5th November (Saturday)
-  Wedge Island Wave Comp & WA State Wave Titles - following the success of last year's inaugural event. (Backup date of 12th Nov).

13th November (Sunday) -
Course Racing - Melville.

27th November (Sunday) -
WAKSA Charity Downwinder for Redkite. Three years running now, kiters raising money for sick kids and teenagers. Can we beat last years efforts?

3rd December (Saturday)
- 2011 Redbull Lighthouse to Leighton Race. Could this be bigger, better and possibly faster than last year's iconic race??

4th December (Sunday) -
Course Racing - Leighton.

7th January
2012 (Saturday) - WA Freestyle Championships - at long last, WA gets its' own freestyle comp!! (Back up date of 14th Jan).

15th January (Sunday) -
Course Racing - Safety Bay.

21st January (Saturday) -
Surprise downwinder - stay tuned for the out of town destination
and route details.

26th to 29th January
(Thurs to Sunday) - Kitestock 2012 returns to Dongara for four days of kiting magic. It's time to book your leave and accommodation - NOW!!

5th February (Sunday) -
Course Racing - Leighton.

4th March (Sunday) -
Course Racing - Safety Bay.

April 2012 (date to be confirmed)
Wind Junkies Unite Volume 2

Membership Renewals

With October 1 as the notional start of the season, many members will have already received, or will
soon receive a membership renewal email from AKSA.

At this stage of the year we have not been advised of, and do not expect any increase in membership fees for 2011/12. It goes without saying we will inform members asap if this should change.

Special General Meeting


At the July AGM, the membership directed the Committee to make enquiries with AKSA regarding the proposed new AKSA structure.

We are calling a special General Meeting to discuss the AKSA response to the WAKSA proposal.

The General Meeting will be held at City of Perth SLSC (same venue as the AGM) on Thursday 29th September, commencing at 7.00pm. We encourage all members to attend.
