WAKSA Charity Downwinder 2010

Approvals have been granted for the WAKSA Charity Downwinder 2010, again in support of Redkite - supporting
children through the cancer journey.

This year the event will be held on Sunday 5th December 2010 and will follow last year's course from either Leighton or City Beach. This year, the shorter leg will commence at south City Beach rather than near the Floreat groyne.

WAKSA will arrange appropriate transport and on shore back up as with last year's event, including the traditional sausage sizzle, as well as a prize presentation at the conclusion of the event.

The Everyday Hero fund raising site has been revived for this year's event. To start your fund raising efforts, go to the Everydayhero.com.au website click on the 'build hero page' and start your individual or team based fund raising efforts.

Prizes this year include a 50 inch Samsung Plasma TV for the individual who raises the most funds, as well as the opportunity to win a new Shinn 'Duke' surf board from the Mark Shinn range of boards for kiters who
raise more than $200!! Further prizes will be announced shortly.

Come on folks, last year we had 68 kiters and raised $13,500 for Redkite. Can we improve on these numbers again this year???

PS: if there's a member with access to a motor boat capable of acting as sweep for this event (need about a 24' boat as minimum size) please contact WAKSA via email.
