This week thirty five kiteboarders had their hearts crushed, dreams shattered and plans ruined, when they got knocked back from the Triple S invitational in Cape Hatteras. On a brighter note, six kiteboarders are probably still jumping for joy because they were chosen to be one of only six wildcard spots in kiteboardings most prestigious event.

The Triple S invitational is a kiteboarding event like no other, bringing the best kiteboarders from around the world to one location, because it’s invitation only of course everybody wants to be there. The laid back competition style attracts even the purest of ‘freeriders’ who shy away from PKRA and IKA competitions because of their stress and seriousness, the Triple S is an institution, there’s even a movie about it called ‘With a Kite’.

These wildcards will be joining a star-studded list of kiteboarders like Andre Phillip, Aaron Hadlow, Ruben Lenten and Tom Court (to name just a few). So who are they?

Fin Begrens from Germany. Maciek Lewandowski from Poland. Tobias Hoelter from Germany. Chris Bobryk from the United States. Lindsay Mcclure from the United States and finally! A girl from Australia, Malin Amle (who was born in Norway but we’re claiming here anyway).

This bunch of up-and-comers will no doubt be heading to the closest beach and training their butts off before heading to the US in only a few weeks.
