THIS is what kiteboarding is all about... Dre and Susi
Imagine being able to do this every day... Get up, knock on Susi Mai's door, make her breakfast and hit the beach. Kite all day, hang out in the arvo and watch the sunset over the island with your best mate.
Sounds like the life, and that's how Susi Mai and Andre Phillips are living it right now in Antigua. Obviously filmed a few months ago, this little clip has a real 'feel good' vibe to it, so nobody cares that they're riding old and shabby gear or that they are actually living in a pretty third world country in the West Indies.
For most of us, we'd never heard of Antigua until kiteboarding came along. The little island in the western West Indies is seriously tiny, if you drive on the beach the whole way around the island (which you can't actually do); you wouldn't even click over 100km on your odometer. Despite that, it's home to 80,000 people who reply on the tourism industry to keep afloat, marketing the island as a luxurious getaway from the usual Caribbean holiday destinations like Cuba and the Dominican republic.
Winds are reliable, water is warm, the local currency is pinned to the US dollar and flights are... well - they aren't cheap. But it looks like a very cool place to visit.
Check out Dre and Susi having a ball at home in Antigua.
