Strapless Alaia Kitesurfing on Oahu - Naish TV

Naish TV shows us a day in the lift of kitesurfer - Tony “Caveman” Groman, in little town of Kailua on Oahu, Hawaii.

The day starts with coffee, a beach check - more coffee, some kiting, and then more coffee. Not exactly a hard life for the self confessed 'Kailua Beach Bum', all he's gotta do is come up with an ingenious way to go kitesurfing every day.

In Kailua, beach conditions are pretty awesome; for laying around on the beach that is. Winds are usually quite light, but the sun's out; the water is blue and it's always warm. For kitesurfing, it usually requires the use of big kite and some imaginative ways of using them. The Caveman's weapon of choice is a good old Alaia, which is a big flat wooden surfboard with no fin. Or an old windsurfer with a waxed deck, no fins and no straps.

These basic boards are the key to kitesurfing every day, and as Tony says - Kailua is the best place in the world to do it.
