Shark attack on kiteboard at Kite Beach!
Shark proof boards - invented by North of course...
Earlier this week a single photo was spread like wildfire around the social media cirlces, when a learner kiters board was attack by a shark. The attack left some pretty hefty teeth marks in the board (it was a nice new North too!) but thankfully the kiter was totally fine as she was on the beach looking for it at the time.
According to the (very famous) photographer who took this picture, Tracey Kraft Leboe:
"(It was) a gal getting a lesson, was downwind by kb jetty, she had dragged in and was about to swim out for board. Just off shore, shark attacked board 2x, took it underwater"
Even more concerning is that Pete Cabrinha reported that a girl was bitten by a shark at nearby Kihei only a few days later.
What's happening to the sharks around there! Have the hordes of kiters finally become too much, or is it just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time (with a fishy looking board?)
