No wind for Day 1 of the Triple-S kiteboarding contest
The worlds hottest professional kiteboarders have been hampered by light winds on day one of the Triple-S competition in Cape Hatteras, USA. Instead of the usual kites, the riders had to settle for a day of winching and hitting sliders behind jetski's.
Having no wind isn't all that bad though according to several of the riders. They prefer the constant pull of a winch or ski, it means they can concentrate on their presses or making the slide look stylish. Using a kite means worrying about the kite moving too high (or low) and pulling them off the obstacle. Another advantage to winching is that it can be done in tight spaces, making it ideal for spectating, as well as shooting promo footage.
