New world kiteboarding champions crowned three events early!

Youri Zoon & Gisela Pulido
There's still three stops to go on the PKRA world kiteboarding tour, but the champions have already been crowned.

Youri Zoon and Gisela Pulido have been the stand-out riders on the 2010/2011 world tour, and this week in St Peter-Ording, Germany they were rightly crowned the new world champions. Despite the fact that the world tour still has to roll into Brazil, New Caledonia and Australia; Zoon and Pulido have amassed enough points to guarantee them the win.

Last year we saw our home grown champion, Andy Yates win one event early - but as it stands, Zoon is set to be the only person to ever win every single event in the world tour, and is the first to be crowned three events early. If you haven't been following the tour closely, Youri Zoon has been sitting out several events over the past few years due to a knee injury, this year it was fully healed and his powered riding style pushed everyone else on tour. Here's what he had to say about his incredible comeback. “I couldn’t be happier, it’s hard to believe, I’ve been fighting for so long now, I had my knee injuries that have held me back for a while but now, finally I got it! Super stoked!”

If you want to see Gisela and Youri riding in person, head on over to the Gold coast this December for the final stop on the PKRA tour. Check out their website for more info.
