Massive mega boost on Maui

Out the back at Kite beach on Maui, there's a reef that extends East through the Windsurfing beach 'Specks' and under the airports take-off and landing path. Lets hope 'Toast' called the control tower before he pumped up - because this guy was planning some massive boosts.

By strapping a Shadowbox to his board, he was able to know the exact height of his jumps - 72 feet to be exact, which is just over 21 meters. Not bad seeing he's running 18m lines.

If you havn't heard of a shadow box - it's kind of like a little GPS with a few accelerometers thrown in. It records exactly where you are at any given time - so not only does it work out where you are in the world, it knows how high you are, which way you're spinning, how fast you're spinning and of course, how high you are. Pretty cool huh! For more info on the shadow box check this out.

But back to the video - Toast's riding an 8m Airush Lithium, which isn't really meant for boosting - its more of a wavey, learners freeride kite. It just goes to show that it's all about the rider, not so much about the equipment.
