Luderitz Speed Challenge - The worlds fastest kiters
"Don't crash... Don't crash... Don't crash!!!"
That sailrocket thing made us mad, breaking 60 knots while that guy sat in his little seat with a crash helmet and ejecto-pod in case something happened. Sure it's am incredible feat, but we want the title back!
The Luderitz Speed challenge is on again in Namibia, and like every year it's a race between the kiters and the windsurfer. Those guys (the windsurfers) still think they're in with a chance, but this year it's the kiters turn to break 60 knots.
With over a month to pick the right wind, direction and get everyone comfortable with the location, chances are it'll happen pretty quickly once they get the wind. Namibia is famous for it, but it wouldn't be the first time an event gets stunked!
Event organisers have also doubled the amount of competitors, so if you think you have what it takes to hit 60 knots, book a plane to Namibia, take a hacksaw to your board and pack a small kite...
Still need convincing? Check out the awesome new trailer the organisers have just released. The event starts on October 7 and runs to the 17th November, we'll bring you all the latest as it happens.
