Kitesurfing world champ Andy Yates goes under the knife

Back home after the surgery.
You may remember a few weeks ago we told you Andy Yates needed shoulder surgery. Unfortunately he had been suffering pain in the area for the last few years, due to a small bone fragment that was spearing into his muscles every time he was kiteboarding.

This week he had the procedure done, and is looking in great shape for the upcoming season. Doctors say he will be riding at 100% of his game in the next few months - but in the meantime, it's given Andy a chance to focus on his uni courses.

This does mean Andy will miss the next three PKRA events in the Canary Islands, Germany and Brazil; but he will return to professional kiteboarding in New Caledonia, and later the Gold coast for the final stop of the 2011 world tour in December.
