Kitesurfers preparing to ride across the Taiwan strait.

Looks like a nice downinder!
They aim to raise awareness of the sport of kitesurfing in Asian countries, and to lobby for the sports inclusion in the upcoming olympic games in Brazil. It's not the longest ride ever recorded -but it is one thats destined to go down in history.
To finish the trip, they estimate it will take about 10-12 hours of straight riding. The group will have a support boat in tow, just in case - but it's not the type of place you'd want to be floating around.
The seas between China and Taiwan are known for their unpredictable weather patterns which cause obvious concerns for the riders, not to mention the tense political conflicts going on between the two governments, heavily restricting travel between the two countries by water.
Good luck to the guys and girls attempting the crossing later this year, we'll keep you updated on their progress.
