Kiteboarding SliderJam at Woodmans Point is G.O.!

The long awaited Core OnLine Sliderjam is set to rock the Perth kite & wake scene with an unprecedented level of rail riding experience. This claim holds for both equipment and rider ability. We were talking with event organiser Toby Bromwich this morning while looking over the monster constructions which were getting their final touches at the 'kite house' in Hammy Hill, Unbelievable. In every aspect this years sliderjam is set to be the biggest event of its kind ever seen in the southern hemisphere.

After a very BIG morning of transporting and setting up the first riders briefing is scheduled for 2:00pm. Thursday. The venue, of course, being Woodies Beach 3. Thursday & Friday will be a free ride intro to the 5 day event. Sat & Sun are comp days with both novice and pro divisions strutting their stuff trying to nail a top spot as well as some great prizes. Monday will be a spectator special with all the top names from Oz & overseas putting together their own expression sessions designed to thrill.

Toby has also invited the local Perth wakeboarders to join in the action during the light wind hours each morning. It goes without saying that this hard core crew are more than a little excited at the prospect. Some exciting action will be on display as the jetboats carve thru the circuit in the early hours of each day in a series of competition elimination rounds leading up to Monday finals when the competition will be an awesome display of hard and fast wakeboarding the likes of which is rarely available to audiences anywhere in Australia.

Riders have been flying and driving in from all round Australia and overseas to this high rating world class event. Sponsors have come in behind it 'en mass' and the local freestyle crew have been working frantically behind the scenes helping Toby to bring this event to fruition. There will be running commentary of the action and music to keep the crowd informed and entertained. (Rumour has that even Uncle Sid got wind of the event a few months back and is currently pedalling his treadly cross the great wide land all the way from his trailer park home in sunny Queensland just to spread his own version of joy to all and sundry - don't bring your mothers along).

Weather permitting there will be also be a novice obstacle hitting clinic - a school of slider steeze - for the uninitiated who are tempted to give the rails a crack. Designed and presented by some of our best known riders the clinics will be provided as a free optional extra with your $50 or $10 sign-on fee.

This truly is an event not to be missed by kiters & wakeboarders alike.

Spectators are welcome to come along for as long and as often as they choose. The Core OnLine Sliderjam is a free viewing spectacle at all session times and there are beaches to kite at nearby if you don't want to spend your whole day on the beach. But please note - Kiting at the Sliderjam is restricted to Registered Entrants. Day Kiting passes will be available each day for a mere $10 which will go directly to the prize pool. For just $50 competition entrants get to kite everyday, get an exclusive, very cool, limited edition Core OnLine Sliderjam 'T' as well as a crack at the kitty of cash prizes.

Day rules & competition format etc will outlined at a riders briefing around lunch time each day (wind dependent as usual). If you miss the briefing please report to the officials area to register BEFORE setting up. All riders will need to be WAKSA/AKSA members. Registration will be available on site.

Volunteers Please. This event is the culmination of a lot of work by a lot of people but it will take even more to pull it all off.

If you can make it to Woodies carpark anytime after 8:00 am tomorrow to help out with the set-up you will be granted unconditional hero status for the course of the event. Seriously - hands will be needed to make light work of the shift & build. If you are free to help - competitor or otherwise please come along and pitch in. Help will also be appreciated at the start and end of every other day as well. Lets make this a huge co-operative effort.

We will also need to have the registration area manned at all times. Any WAKSA members who can slot in for an hour or two at any time please contact us at waksa@waksa.org.au or just turn up and put your hand up. We will have a roster drawn up at the sign-on desk for you to contribute to. The sign-on will be set up in a wind free, premium viewing site. Best spot to watch the action & help at the same time. C'mon members please don't let us down.

Hope to see lots and lots of kiters, family & friends over the course of the weekend.

From the Core Online Crew - Your WAKSA Crew - The Woodies Crew & others that put in to make it happen.
