Kite Surf Pro wraps up in Mauritius
Keahi ripping it up at One Eye.
The most recent event at One Eye in Mauritius struggled through windless conditions with 5 consecutive lay days due to light winds and small swell. Luckily, the other four days absolutely went off with some of the best conditions ever seen for a kitesurfing event.
Winning the event with a 10 point barrel in the final minutes of his heat, Patri McLaughlin from Hawaii was the underdog by a long shot. Defeating rival frenchman Airton Cozzolino, Patri said
“I’m so stoked right now I don’t even know what to say. I got the biggest closeout barrel of my life in that final, and I am just so happy to be here."
The only Aussie in the running, Keahi De Aboitiz had to settle for equal 5th place with 3 other competitors, after being knocked out by second place winner Airton Cozzolino in round 5. With the non-event called during the Portugal event, this leaves Keahi in 5th place going into the next round in Ireland next month.
Check out the KSP website for pictures and reports from the event, and check back in October for the report on the event in Ireland.
