Indoor Kitesurfing - One step closer to reality!

Keahi's best wave of the day
Windsurfer's have sailed indoors, and even held competitions with crowds and jumps - so how long will be it be before kite surfers get a chance?

This is about as close as any kiteboarder has come to kitesurfing indoors, at the Wadi Adventure wave pool in Dubai. The wave pool is capable of pushing out 3 foot peelers in five different configurations, every minute or so. And because it happens to be right on the beach, still gets a decent wind blowing perfectly side on to the complex. Combine that with no overhead obstacles, the whole park to yourself and the skills of Keahi De Abotiz, and you've got yourself one pretty unique experience.

Keahi eluded to the fact that he was thinking about the idea earlier in the month on his Facebook page. There's already video of him charging it on a SUP board, but that's been done before, nobody has tried to kite surf the man made waves until now.

Due to the short amount of time the guys had to ride the machine, the footage below is basically all the group got. Keahi was still pretty stoked about it though, saying afterwards:

"Unfortunately this is all the footage I got. Big thanks to the guys at Wadi Adventure for giving me the opportunity to kite in the pool. Was a pretty insane experience!"

Check out the video below, but don't go getting any ideas! The Wadi Adventure Wave pool is the largest in the middle east, and is rumoured to have cost well in excess of 5 million dollars.
