Hangin' out with the North boys on Maui
Three of the head honcho's from North Kiteboarding spent a bit of time on Maui, and the video below is a little insight into how it all went down.
Sky Solbach, Jeremie Eloy and Patri McLaughlin got together with North kite designer Ken Winner for the test trip of the season, on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii. The testing grounds for most of the big kitesurfing companies, Maui is also the birthplace of modern day kitesurfing due to the perfect conditions all summer long. Usual kite sizes are 7-8m and you can be sure the wind's going to blow every afternoon, from the south east around 25 knots. Like clockwork, the two volcano's on either side of the island act like a giant wind tunnel, luckily - the best places to kite get the full effect of the wind.
Not only were the North kiteboarding boys testing the new Rebels and surfboard range, they were also sighted testing a new race kite. Unfortunately some lucky punter noticed the Ozone Edge laying underneath the new prototype, which they were taking measurements from. He snapped a pic and uploaded it to Facebook, much to the amusement of Ozone designer Rob Whittall.
On a slightly less plagorised note, the new Rebel and range of kiting orriented surfboards look fantastic, and with the world class kitesurfing conditions on offer over there - the testers really put the range through its paces. Check out the video below to see what the 2012 range is capable of, and for more info on the North Kite 2012 range - check out their website here.
