Global Wind Day - Kids get a taste of kiteboarding

The Global Kiter foundation, showing kites the way!
Time for a feel good video out of Greece.

The global kiter foundation is a relatively new foundation out of Greece which aims to create community engagement and offer comprehensive education while using kiteboarding as the unique connection point for people with physical disabilities and underprivileged youth. That's their mission statement anyway, and they're doing a pretty good job of it.

Each child sat down through a talk about wind energy and various ways we harness the wind in todays world, then they made windmills out of paper and clay before heading to the beach. After flying their windmills and seeing the wind in action, out came the trainer kites! The kids loved feeling the power generated by kites and by the end of the day were flying around with no problems, huge smiles on their faces!

"A huge highlight for us all was a special group of autistic children who came from 'Hand By Hand Association'– which is based in Karistos, said the organisation spokesman. They took part in the events on Sunday. No words can sum up the experience for us. At each workshop, we could see how much they were enjoying themselves; from playing with the clay in the creative workshop, to feeling the texture of the kites before having their turn seeing the kite fly high and move around so gracefully. It was a wonderful experience for us"
