First kite adventure with Australian Kite Surfari

Val went on a Kitesurfing adventure off queensland with Australian Kite Surfari and reported her story...
Tour date: 7 - 10 August
Crew: Captain - Ant, Danny (first assistant) Andrew (second assistant) , Big John, little John, Michael, Nathan, Trent, Graham and Val
Main highlights on our first kiting adventure holiday being the huge gourmet meals some of which included beef lasagne, Chicken dish and pasta, Chicken and Mushroom Casserole with olives and rice etc etc all followed by different varieties of Cheesecake which all appear to come from the same Sara Lee box but were assured that they were just prepared earlier.
The toilet facilities were a porta pottie with million dollar view or take a shovel and toilet roll into the bush.
The shower was very inventive with fresh water pumped by a spear pump connected to the ute battery which proceeded through a coiled copper pipe which was heated by a toilet roll soaked in inflammable liquid and set alight, the boys said it was in the afterburner mode - see photo.
We all slept in the Oz Trail RV tents with stretches or in our case, Ant treated us to the honeymoon suit - air mattress.
Having no need to wear shoes for 4 days and slept in sand pit for first 2 nights with gale force winds blowing was an experience Ha.
The only kite carnage was Andrew and Michael (L Plates fitted) who got into a tangle. The 2 Johns had a near miss while approaching beach at same time.
Medical instances were restricted to Ant having a touch of the flu with Trent standing on a sea urchin with myself having kicked another which resulted in a sore toe. Graham had slight encounter of the reef kind and most had general sore muscles, aches and pains from long hours of kiting.
Famous notables, were Nathan who made a name for himself after we learnt that he had spent the night in Cairns at the Rainbow Inn, apparently a place where female tenants displays their nightly talents.
Danny was the story teller - Tour Guide and general snake handler.
Andrew- park ranger type, cook assistant and kite learner and which I discovered during my trip to the intrepid night shower has a tall white body, not my partner as it turned out.
Michael, being the learner and the quietest crew member who went off with a bang at the end of the trip, Ant has a way of bringing out the best in people.
Trent the youngest enjoyed showing us how to be a shallow water specialist. Graham, the Dawn Rider, earned the name of the energiser bunny whose endurance was noticed by all.
Val only woman in man's world busied herself with supporting kiters, walks crosswords with reading books.
We all enjoyed a great time with plenty of adventure on our first but not last, Surfari with Ant and the crew.
Many thanks to all the crew who made our holiday and memorable one, keep in touch.
Val and Graham
