Ewan Jaspan finishes 3rd in the Real Triple S Event
Ewan steezing it out on the sliders...
The whole of Australia was pretty stoked when Ewan Jaspan won the wildcard entry for the 2013 Triple S competition. As the rider the judges thought would best cause a mix-up in the slicks division (that's another name for freestyle), Ewan turned out to blitz everyone with an impressive show of unhooked tricks and some stylish slider action to boot. (Haha! Get it?)
Every year the Triple S is looked to as the premiere wakestyle competition in the world. But recently we've been paying more and more attention to the freestyle and wave riding divisions, because some would say that the level of riding is even better than what's going on in the world tour!
Why? It's because the Triple S is an invitational event, which attracts all those 'freeriders' who get sponsored from the big companies to publish lifestyle videos and photos, rather than get results in competitions. The likes of Andre Phillips, Aaron Hadlow and even Ruben Lenten actually show up for this event, when they couldn't really care less about the PKRA stops. Must be something to do with the parties, or maybe it's just the 'beers on the docks at sunset' type atmosphere of the place...
Whatever makes it, we're stoked Ewan did so well (it also guarantees him a spot in next years VIP list) and you can be sure that each rider will have their own footage to release over the next few weeks.
In the meantime, check out this video from Real of the last half of the competition...
