Could this be the comeback of RRD?

RRD's spending big bucks to get their
brand back in the spotlight...
You might have seen the new Mystic ponchos popping up at your local beach this summer, kite surfers all over the world are using them to warm up after a session, or to simply get changed under - but they've never been used quite like this...

This young man takes the image of kite surfers a long way from where we'd like it to be, in fact everything about this video is far removed from what we like to think of ourselves as kiteboarders. Maybe it's a euro thing, after all RRD is definitely one for siding with the recent euro movement full of bright colours and swirly lines in kite design. What more is these type of off-topic but slightly related kitesurfing movies are being churned out by almost every kitesurfing company. After the hugely successful
' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Liquid Force campaign "Shit kiteboarders say...", maybe kitesurfing companies don't actually have to publish video's full of spinny tricks and big waves?

All jokes aside however, RRD (or Roberto Ricci Designs) is an old windsurfing company that turned itself into a kitesurfing company, and like pretty much all kitesurfing companies, expanded into the Stand up paddle phenomenon currently sweeping the world. Over the last few years they relatively dropped off the face of the earth (in Australia anyway) with only a few little snippets of news and very few kites in Australian skies. Not for long however, it seems someone over at RRD is keen to broaden the brand image and has employed someone to release a heap of highly entertaining movies online. The short video below is one of the recent offerings, and although it doesn't relate directly to their products (or do the rider much justice) - it brings quite a bit of attention to the brand itself.

Also bringing a little attention to the brand, is their recent race results in the fast growing kite racing sector of the sport. With their strong windsurfing background RRD hit the ground running with race board design, and their broducts are definitely turning heads in the race world.
Could this be a comeback for the colourful little brand? We'll see how the kitesurfing public react to their latest video...
