Australian Kiteboarding Nationals - Wrap up and Results

The Mens results after Sundays heats.
The results were posted after Sundays marathon riding session, and then confirmed in the double eliminations today. Conditions couldn't have been better, with 17-20 knots blowing all day long from the South East, allowing everyone to have a ride and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in Alva Beach, QLD.
Unfortunately the evenings festivities were cancelled on Sunday night due to a few locals causing a ruckus. But that meant everyone was in bed early - ready to take on another day of 20 knot perfection. Most people were anyway, the kids spent the night rounding up cane toads and constructing a makeshift speed hump in the surf club carpark.
Double eliminations were held today, confirming the results posted yesterday - here's where everyone ended up.
Adding another crown to his bulging trophy cabinet, was Keahi De Aboitiz. This kid was killing it all weekend with powered and stylish moves every run, landing consistently. Keahi is absolutely on fire right now, with 3 PKRA wave round wins, and now the Australian Freestyle crown - he's fast becoming one of the best all rounders in the world.
Following Keahi, with equally powered moves tainted by a few unfortunate landings - was Ewan Jaspan from Melbourne. He also competed in and won the junior event, where the other kids struggled to match his outstanding skill and near perfect competition riding. For Ewan to do so well in both mens and junior divisions is a massive effort, congratulations Ewan.
In the girls, it was a closer affair, with Marine Sudre taking the title over rivals Chrissy and Sam. Marine's consistently been in the top few girls around Australia over the last couple of years - she sure knows how to put on a show for the judges with plenty of technical tricks coming out of the bag for her heats.
So that's it from the 2011 Australian Kiteboarding nationals, we'd like to extend a huge thank you to Marvin and the event sponsors for organising such a professional event, the riders for making the trek all the way up to north QLD, and Huey - the wind god, for turning on such awesome weather.
