Finals - Zoon and Pulido World Champions 2011

Aug-28-2011

The final day of the Kitesurf World Cup in St Peter Ording took place during ideal, windy conditions. The event site was flooded from last night’s storms but it didn’t cause any changes to the day’s plan which included finishing the last heats of the double eliminations and possibly crowning two world champions.

We started the doubles where we left off yesterday. Reno Romeu (BRA, North) was on a mission to win against Langeree (NED, Naish) this would get him to fifth place overall depending on Tom Hebert’s (FRA, North) results as both riders from the North team are neck and neck at the moment.

Unfortunately for both Hebert (FRA, North) and Romeu (BRA, North), Langeree’s reputation held strong and the Dutch rider was on fire. His intense training after his knee injury paid off as he proved that he could still beat the top guys after a year out of the tour. Kevin and Reno felt that they had a pretty bad heat and the very strong current they battled throughout made it painfully obvious to both that they should have gone with a bigger kite.

It was a very close heat but Langeree (NED, Naish) made the difference by landing a powered Hasselhoff (front side pass 180) and demonstrating more trick variety.
