Velux 5 Oceans - British first-timer arrives in Charleston, South Carolina. British solo sailor Chris Stanmore-Major has finished third in the fourth sprint of the Velux 5 Oceans round the world yacht race. The 32-year-old sailed into Charleston, South Carolina, on his yacht Spartan today after racing 6043 nautical miles from Punta del Este in Uruguay. Chris crossed the finish line in Charleston Harbor at 21.45 local time following 25 days, 9 hours and 45 minutes at sea, 38 hours behind the second placed Derek Hatfield and just over two days behind race leader Brad Van Liew.
