'Planned route of the Van Diemens Land Circumnavigation Cruise'
.
|
On Tuesday, 2 March at 6.30 pm, the Van Dieman's Land Circumnavigation will be the subject of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia's (CYCA) first Information Night for the year to be held in the Freya Room at the Club.
Jeremy Firth and Penny St Leger from the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania will talk about the 800 nautical mile cruise in company, including places they'll be visiting and the boat preparation required to make the trip in comfort and safety.
The CYCA's Cruise to Hobart 2011 is timed to allow participants to attend the Wooden Boat Festival and to join the VDL-C. The evening will open with a brief explanation of how the club's second Cruise to Hobart will work and about the conditions for entry.
The circumnavigation cruise round Tasmania is a challenging 800 nm cruise-in-company with experienced, friendly people, and if this appeals to your sense of adventure, don't delay in registering your interest in coming to the information meeting.
The spectacular coastline of Tasmania is a superb natural environment for birds and sea-life, as well as for people who enjoy sailing or motor cruising. The cruise includes beach barbecues, visits to friendly fishing ports and yacht clubs along the way, with plenty of time to explore scenic inlets, rivers and harbours; and to relax in uncrouded anchorages in some of Tasmania's more remote and beautiful national parks and world heritage areas.
This will be the 10th such cruise, and is open to seaworthy vessels with an overall hull length exceeding 30 feet ((.15metres) that meet cruise safety standards and cre experience requirements. The entry fee of $A495 includes a comprehensive cruise manual full of all kinds of useful cruising information, the latest edition of the Tasmanian Anchorage Guide, a Tasmanian national parks pass, and many other additives.
If you would like to attend please confirm with CYCA reception on 8292-7800 or
