This past weekend, the University of Ottawa competed at the annual Univeristy of Toronto Canadian Collegiate Regetta held at National Yacht Club.
The weekend was filled with diverse wind conditions and good racing was had by all six schools who attended the event:
The University of Ottawa The Univeristy of Toronto McGill University McMaster University Queen's University HEC Montreal
Saturday held light winds with a maximum wind speed of 5 knots. Race Committee was able to get in four races for each A and B division before the wind died out. At the end of the day McGill was leading both divisions. Sunday brought much different wind conditions with winds reaching 15 knots and since trapeze is not allowed in collegiate racing, a lot of hiking took place (I mean a lot).
University of Ottawa captured third place in both A and B divisions, while University of Toronto took first in A division and McGill finished first in B division. The overall first place was awarded to McGill.
Thanks to our PRO Sean Hewson and volunteers Michael Egberts, Kirk Cavell, Gabrielle Blais-Jones, and Erin McNeill. Also thank you to our unofficial photographer Joshua Bullen from McGill whose pictures of the event will be available on the Canadian intercollegiate website canadianusailing.com
