The Chandler family, the centre of all political and economic pressure during the kidnap of Paul and Rachel Chandler, as well as their own grief at the couple's incarceration, have issued the following statement, principally asking for the media and others to respect Paul and Rachel's privacy as they recover from their ordeal: Yesterday evening, we received the wonderful news that Paul and Rachel Chandler were to be released by the Somali pirates who had held them in captivity since October 23, 2009.
