A heavy Indian Ocean swell combined with light winds are not the most comfortable combination, particularly at night, so it was no surprise that on the first night at sea, several yachts reported crew members with seasickness. The fleet leader, Rod Mulcahy's Beneteau First 44.7 Slipstream, passed Jurien about 24 hours after yesterday's start, and may have been thinking that in his last Geraldton Race in the same boat, they had traveled nearly twice the distance in the same time.
