Sail Melbourne decided the first Sailing World Cup events, with Austria's Delle Karth Nico and Nikolaus Resch winning gold in the 49ers, and Olympic champion Ben Ainslie following suit in the Finns. In the 49ers, the Austrian pair finished second, overtaking the overnight leaders, New Zealand's Peter Burling and Blair Tuke, who finished a disappointing ninth. The winner of today's race was German's Lennart Briesenick-Pudenz and Julien Morten-Massman who made the most of the strong, blustery conditions.
