'Light, stainless and stubless'
.
|
There's nothing worse than stubbing your toes while sailing, but ain't it nice not to have to wear sailing shoes or sandals! If this sounds like you, then award winning innovation company Colligo Marine just might have an answer, in Sail-World's Product of the Week, the Soft Padeye.
They've created these new innovative, patent pending, devices using a lightweight Dyneema loop for attaching sheet leads, spinnaker, or even staysail tacks without the need for a heavy, rusty, stainless padeye. As well as being good for sore stubbed toes, they're light and they don't rust!
All you do is insert the padeye body into a 3/4 inch hole with some bedding compound and use the combined backing plate/nut to retain the fitting. Make sure to have the needed structure in your deck or bulkhead.
The provided Dyneema loop can be easily changed when needed and uses a simple stopper knot for retention. Sealant can be used on the line to eliminate potential leaks.
The product is good for 3,000 lbs-f SWL (around 1360kg), 7,000 lbs-f (around 3175kg) breaking strength. It weighs just 3.3 oz (93 grams).
Colligo Marine made their name back in 2002 with the Bridle Plate Mooring System and are constantly looking for new challenges. If you have a product challenge and need assistance with design work, they'd like to hear from you.
