A Perth man was ordered to pay more than $900 in fines and costs, after Western Australian Fisheries and Marine Officers intercepted two eskies of illegally collected live coral the man had sent to a Perth address from Broome. 37-year-old Jason Bender of Lockridge admitted to collecting, bagging and consigning two foam eskies containing a consignment of coral to Perth through a transport company. The 29 pieces of coral, formally identified as being of the class Anthozoa, weighing nearly seven kilograms, had been wrapped in paper and placed in several bags containing water.
