It is being reported from aboard the maxi-multihull Banque Populaire V that she has been forced to retire from their first record attempt of Jules Verne Trophy After attempting to repair the damage caused when she hit an unidentified object it is now felt that her safety has been compromised and she would be no longer able to sail in the Southern Ocean with normal safety and still able to sail sufficently quickly to beat the existing record for a circumnavigation Therefore the crew have sadly announced that they will retire.
