The 2011 IFDS World Championships are now underway after a final day of fine tuning and preparation at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Linda Merkle, President of the International Association for Disabled Sailing (IFDS), declared the IFDS Disabled Sailing Combined World Championships 2011 officially underway in a buoyant opening ceremony at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy today (Saturday 3 July). Racing at the six-day event, which is doubling up as an unofficial rehearsal for next year's Paralympic Games regatta at the same venue, starts at 10.55am tomorrow with a final entry of 155 sailors from 26 ...
