Detroit, Mich. - 21 August 2010 - In sharp contrast to the high temperatures and strong winds experienced on Friday afternoon, competitors at the 2010 Toyota International Match Race for the Detroit Cup sat through numerous postponements before an eventual abandonment ended racing for the day. While light conditions during the morning did allow the completion of the initial round robin matches, the becalmed afternoon conditions and resulting abandonment forced the race committee to consolidate the elimination rounds.
