With commanding views over the marina, Coast restaurant may well be the best vantage point to observe this year's boat show, talk shop or escape from the crowds below. And with an exclusive Boat Show special of a 5-course tasting menu for just $55, it offers value as well as visual appeal.
Food critics and Sydney's fickle business clique are unanimous: Coast is the pick of the city's modern Italian restaurants - and it has the awards and the return clientele to prove it.
Coast perches above Cockle Bay wharf on the roof terrace, on the opposite side of Cockle Bay from the Convention Centre. It occupies a light filled pavilion with its great expanse of slanted glass, an expansive timber decking and balcony garden.
Sophisticated, yet never aloof, its design draws its inspiration from coastal and beach house elements. Creative lighting, pop art fabrics and soaring windows combine to create a warm and inviting enclave, especially at night when the interior lights interplay with those of the city and Darling Harbour.
Renowned Chef, Jonathan Barthelmess has devised a menu that is modern and Italian, but not unfamiliar, with perennial favourites and new workings side by side - seafood, pasta and a selection meat dishes, all using farm-fresh produce. The Chef's Market Menu, which is available for lunch with 2 or 3 course options and a glass of wine, is $39/$50.
Attendees at the Sandman PR 'Hour of Power' media seminar will go in to the running to win a $300 voucher for a sumptuous Coast experience.
Also, as a special Boat Show offer to visitors, exhibitors and their guests, Coast is offering a special 5 course tasting menu for just $55 per person.
