Hovering around US99c today, the Aussie dollar is likely to stay high for at least six months, and over US90c throughout 2011 into 2012, forcing the Reserve Bank to raise interest rates, say the experts. In its latest Business Outlook report, Access Economics said the 'high-flying dollar' will remain strong against the US for the next 12 months. Access economist Chris Richardson says the dollar will remain high over the next year due to rising interest rates and overall economic growth, giving tourists and internet-browsers hope for another year of cheap shopping.
