AC World Series Lands in Plymouth in one week

America's Cup sailing is coming to England, bringing many of the world's best sailors, competing on some of the most physically demanding boats in the world - the next generation, wing-sailed AC45 catamarans.
Landing in one of England's most historic and celebrated maritime ports, Plymouth, the America's Cup World Series will run September 10-18 in front of crowds on the world-famous Plymouth Hoe.

Training day - Aleph and China Team

2 September.
The French team, Aleph, along with China Team, took to the waters of Plymouth Sound for training on Friday.
"We have some new crew here," Aleph skipper Bertrand Pace said after returning to base. "We're trying to work with seven crew so that if someone is injured we can make an easy swap. Eight days - we'd prefer 50 days! - but eight is ok."
Newly appointed China Team skipper Charlie Ogletree was more emphatic: "In eight days we'll be ready to race. We can't wait."

America's Cup Uncovered - Episode 6

. America's Cup Uncovered Episode 6 begins where the 34th America's Cup will end - in San Francisco. Join America's Cup Race Management CEO and Regatta Director Iain Murray as he flies high over the City and the racing area for the 2013 events. Then it's onto Plymouth, where the locals share their excitement for the AC World Series Plymouth which begins September 10. Next it's off to the Extreme RIB factory to see the production of the radical prototype media cats that made the AC World Series TV coverage so exciting on the water. Then, we get a taste of the AC45 from the guest racer's eyes, riding shotgun with some of the best sailors in the world. Watch episode 6

Preparations continue in Plymouth, with the team bases and Race Village nearly complete. Team Korea was one of several teams getting ready for sailing Thursday.

First training in Plymouth

Teams started training on Plymouth Sound on Thursday ahead of the America's Cup World Series - Plymouth, which begins on September 10.
After sailing, new China Team skipper Charlie Ogletree said he likes what he sees. "The Sound was beautiful; sun, wind, warmth... It was great."

Notice to mariners issued for Plymouth
|

September 1.
The Queen's Harbour Master Plymouth has issued a Notice to Mariners regarding the AC World Series from September 10-18.

In the coming days, America's Cup Race Management will issue a Course Marshalling document that will also be 'required reading' for the skippers of any vessels intending to be on the water to watch the racing.
