Day 1 of the 33rd America's Cup/ At the scheduled start time, the breeze in the start area was just 1-2 knots and PRO Harold Bennett signalled postponement at 10:00 local time. Three hours later and it has built a little but its unstable. At the top mark winds of around 9-12 knots have been report from around 240 but now the latest wind down at the startline is three knots but unfortunately from 335. That 90 degree difference across the course makes it very tough for the race committee

The start area is well seawards about 27 nautical miles east of Valencia.

The two multihulls Alinghi and USA have been still under tow. There is wind now from the south west but it is very slowly moving down the course.

At the top mark winds of around 6-8 knots have now built to 9-12 knots, with more west in the breeze the top mark has been moved.

The Swiss Alinghi 5 team is keen to go sailing, with the very lightweight catamaran expected to have an advantage with windspeeds up to seven knots.

On the other hand all the body language/signals from the American trimaran USA-17 is dont even think about dropping that flag Harold, wait until we have seven-10 knots.

Meanwhile for the spectators and media and sailors online around the world remember ;
