A visit to Monaco for Monaco Classic Week

The next best thing to sailing into the sunset and not returning must be watching a great classic yacht strutting her stuff - and the best place to do that is at Monaco Classic Week.

Not all of us can sailing into the sunset or visit Monaco, but Manhattan Yacht Club Commodore Michael Fortenbaugh's pictorial account of his visit to Monaco for the Classic Week is the next, next best thing.

If you've never been to Monaco Classic Week, then you have not yet seen the world! It is time for you to go out and travel. Those were my thoughts as we flew home from Monte Carlo and one incredible display of classic yachts.

Classic Week was in September and this year featured Yacht Club de Monaco's 1909 Fife called 'Tuiga.' (See Sail-World story ) The club pulled out all the stops for her Centenary celebration. The group of New Yorkers who flew over to be part of the festivities chartered Moonbeam III, certainly one of the great classics as well.

And after the regatta and touching down back in NYC, all I could think of was the Bachman Turner Overdrive song 'You Ain't See Nothing Yet.' Monaco Classic Week is one of the series of grand classic events on the Med. Whatever else you do, go to one of these and soon!
